Darts Premier League Betting Tips And Predictions Night 13

Night 13 of the Darts Premier League, Betting Tines on bet365

Pete’s DPL Betting Tips for Night 13

  • Expect the match between Michael van Gerwen and Joe Cullen to produce the most 180s, which can be backed at 15/8 with bet365.
  • We predict that Peter Wright will score the first break of throw in his all Scottish affair against Gary Anderson at 10/11 with bet365.
  • bet365 are offering evens (1/1) on Gerwyn Price to pin a 180 in his opening leg against Michael Smith which is highly probable.

All of these betting lines were correct as of May 17th at 5 PM UK Time.

Last Thursday in Dublin, James Wade became the third player to pick up multiple Premier League of Darts victories after beating Jonny Clayton in the weekly final.

The Machine also saw off world number three Michael van Gerwen 6-5 and world number two Gerwyn Price 6-1 along the way to his second-night title.

Wade initially found himself 5-3 down and was forced to survive match darts against the Ferret before fighting back and beating the Welshman in a final leg decider with a superb 118 checkout.

The opening match between James Wade and Michael van Gerwen was pure darting quality and filled with 180s. Ultimately it was the Dutchman who came away without points for the first time this season.

The Machine then backed up his quarter-final performance with a stunning 6-1 victory over the Iceman in a match where he averaged an outstanding 114, his highest-ever televised numbers.

His opponent in the final, league leader Clayton, opened up his evening with a win over Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright before eliminating Michael Smith, who is in desperate need of points and saw off Gary Anderson 6-2 in his opener.

Just three weeks ago, Wade was still waiting for a nightly title and now has two but Smith’s wait for a victory continues and his chances of a play off place are beginning to look pretty slim.

This week, Premier League Darts heads to the OVO Arena in Glasgow, where Wright faces Anderson, Clayton is against Wade, Price takes on Smith and Van Gerwen faces off against Joe Cullen.

Peter Wright v Gary Anderson

First up on night 13 of the Premier League at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow is the battle of the two Scotsmen where Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright takes on Gary ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson.

The pair last came up against each other on night eight when it was the world number one Wright who came out on top.

He won that encounter 6-5 but banked zero points last week after a quarter-final exit at the hands of Jonny Clayton.

But, despite having the same amount of weekly wins as his rival, Anderson has barely been at the races in this year’s Premier League of Darts campaign and sits bottom of the table, propping up the rest.

As such, it is hard to see this one going against Snakebite.

Jonny Clayton v James Wade

The second match of the night sees a repeat of last week’s final in Dublin as the Ferret aims to get his own back on the Machine.

Last week’s match-up was a high-quality affair as the league’s two in-form players clashed.

Both players look set to qualify for the play offs as the door begins to close on those outside the top four.

I would back Clayton to get revenge this week, but there is a strangeness to the odds offered on James Wade during this year’s competition.

True, he took a while to get a win, but he has made four finals and banked two wins, which is more than both Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price.

Yet, still the bookies rank him as a fairly high-priced outsider.

It’s almost worth backing him regardless of whether you think he’s going to win or not.

That being said, purely because he throws first which is critical in this short format contest, we’re backing the Welshman who has been one of the best players in the world for the past 18 months.

Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith

The night’s third match sees two players who are fast running out of time to qualify for the next round come up against each other.

Former world number one and world champion, Gerwyn Price throws first against Bully Boy, who is still the only player who hasn’t yet won an individual night in this season’s Darts Premier League.

It may even be too late for Smith, but there remains a slim chance for the Iceman – who returned to his previous Ice Ice Baby walkout song last week in Ireland – and he really needs to grasp it with both hands.

And I think he will do just that.

No points for the Bully Boy this week.

Michael van Gerwen v Joe Cullen

The final match in the quarter-final first round sees Premier League debutant, Joe ‘The Rockstar’ Cullen face off against Mighty Michael van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen enjoyed a European Tour victory over the weekend when he took down the Austrian Darts Open trophy and, having failed to bank any points for the first time seven days ago, he will be looking to further cement his top-four place and close the gap on Jonny Clayton at the top of the table.

Expect the Green Machine to come out with all guns blazing and put on a show before meeting Gerwyn Price in the next round.

Darts Premier League Betting Tips Night 12

Pete’s DPL Betting Tips for Night 12

  • Jonny Clayton has thrown more 180s than any one else in this year’s Darts Premier League and I expect him to outscore Joe Cullen in the night’s opener at 6/4 with bet365.
  • Back James Wade to take his match with Michael van Gerwen all the way and get it over the line with a 10-9 win for 9/1 at bet365.
  • With a 10-9 score line, bettors can get 5/6 on there being over 16.5 total legs in the same match, again at bet365.

All of these betting lines were correct at the time the article was posted.

The 2022 Darts Premier League table has a new leader after Jonny Clayton defeated Michael van Gerwen in Thursday’s final in Aberdeen.

After knocking out both of the Scottish players on his way to victory, the Ferret was required to overcome a hostile crowd who heckled and whistled for much of the night.

It was Clayton’s fourth final of the season, and he now joins MVG as a three-time nightly title winner, moving one point ahead of the Dutchman.

Clayton managed to average 103.4 in an excellent battle with van Gerwen, who had earlier seen off Gerwyn Price and James Wade, both with 6-3 score lines.

Angry MVG

Mighty Mike also averaged 103 and looked set to win when he opened up the tenth leg with a 180 followed by a 140 but was unable to shake off Clayton who responded in kind.

After surviving a match dart, the Welshman then broke his rival’s throw with a brilliant 84 check out that finished off an 11-darter.

That set the Ferret up for the win as a frustrated van Gerwen’s game crumbled and his composure went in the deciding leg, angrily throwing his darts, before he exchanged heated words with match referee Russ Bray, over his handling of the noisy Aberdeen crowd.

Play now moves on to Dublin where hopefully things will be a little more peaceful.

James Wade v Michael van Gerwen

We get underway with a contest between James Wade and Michael van Gerwen.

No one boasts a better tournament average than Mighty Mike who has been looking close to his best for a few months now.

That makes Wade’s task all the tougher on night 12.

The Machine has the second lowest tournament average but has reached three out of the last four finals and was a winner a fortnight ago.

Nevertheless, it looks like more points on the board for the Green Machine who should come through over the regular Machine.

Gerwyn Price v Joe Cullen

Time is running out for Gerwyn Price who is enduring a very disappointing Premier League campaign once again.

Reaching the playoffs would have been the minimum expected of one of the pre-tournament favourites who has suffered a broken hand and also missed a night through covid so far this year.

All the same, the Iceman insists his hand isn’t bothering him anymore, but he was still out first round a week ago when losing to MVG.

Realistically he and tonight’s opponent, Joe Cullen, both with one win each, desperately need a deep run this week in order to begin making up lost ground on the top four.

Amazingly, Price hasn’t posted a ton plus average in this tournament since Nottingham on night six, which is a run of seven matches.

Cullen lost out to Peter Wright last week but has shown a much improved game since his 6-1 defeat at Leeds three weeks ago.

Although in the lesser form of the two, you just feel like Price will put on a show at some point and with the clock ticking that moment needs to be now.

The Iceman has only really put in one good performance so far, which came in Belfast on a night where he produced two nine dart finishes, and back across the Irish Sea once again, I think he will come good once more.

Michael Smith v Gary Anderson

Next up we have a match between two of the best darts players with absolutely no form at all.

Still, someone’s got to win, and I believe that will just about be Michael Smith.

In nine attempts, they haven’t won a quarter-final between them, but did meet in the night six final when it was Gary Anderson who came out on top.

Smith sits one place above the bottom placed Flying Scotsman and is the only player left in the tournament without a nightly win.

Bully Boy does however have a higher 180s per game average and a better 180s per leg average than Anderson.

Assuming they both play to their present levels, Smith should win this, if only because of the maximums.

Jonny Clayton v Peter Wright

This one should be the match of the round.

Top of the table takes on the world number one and reigning world champion.

Premier League leader Clayton is making a great effort of defending his Premier League crown and he has won his last five quarter finals.

However, Wright has won eight out of  his last 11 in the opening contests himself which is the same amount as the Ferret.

The pair also have an almost symmetrical leg difference of plus one making this a really tough one to call.

But, purely on account of The Ferret having the throw in a potential decider, I’m backing the Welshman to overcome Snakebite in the night’s final first round encounter.
