Darts Premier League Betting Tips And Predictions Night 15

Gerwyn Price and MVG Darts Premier League

Pete’s DPL Betting Tips for Night 15

  • In his match against Gary Anderson, back Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith to win and pin the most 180s for 13/8 at bet365.
  • There should be plenty of maximums in the matchup between Jonny Clayton and Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright, so we’ll take the 5/6 on there being over 5.5 180s in the night’s fourth quarter final, offered at bet365.
  • I can see Michael van Gerwen making light work of the night’s opener against James Wade and fancy a 6-3 win for the Dutchman, a score line that he posted twice in three matches a week ago and comes with a price of 11/2 at bet365.

All of these betting lines were correct as of May 17th at 5 PM UK Time.

World number two Gerwyn Price gave his play off hopes a boost last Thursday night in Sheffield when he beat Michael van Gerwen in the final of night 14 of the 2022 Premier League of Darts.

The Iceman returned to form at the Utilita Arena where he recorded back-to-back ton plus averages to reach the final for the first time since night three in Belfast.

That night in Northern Ireland the Welshman pinned two nine darters and while he couldn’t quite produce the same heroics last week, he will be pleased to get his faint chances of a top-four finish going once again.

The Welshman picks up a much-needed five league points to take him up to fifth and only two points behind fourth-place Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright who banked zero points in Sheffield after falling at the first against MVG.

Return Of The Iceman

At times, Van Gerwen held leads of 3-1 and 4-2 before missing four darts at double 12 for a 5-3 lead to let Price back in to the match who duly closed the gap to 4-4.

The match went all the way to the wire before The Iceman threw in a 14 dart leg to seal a crucial win.

Earlier on in the evening, Price opened up with a 6-4 quarter-final victory over Gary Anderson prior to seeing off the challenge of Joe Cullen 6-3 in the semi finals.

Mighty Mike added three more league points to his tally courtesy of victories over Peter Wright and Michael Smith to join Jonny Clayton in qualifying for the play offs.

Losing semi-finalists Joe Cullen, who for the second time this year got a bye in the first found due to an opponent’s withdrawal, and Michael Smith also banked two points apiece.

This week, with only two nights left to go, the Darts Premier League roadshow heads to The O2 in East London.

Gerwyn Price v Jonny Clayton

In what could possibly be the tie of the night, things get underway with an all Welsh affair between Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton.

Clayton has already secured his place in Rotterdam and is top of the league.

The Ferret is the defending champions and has been the outstanding player in this year’s event.

His World Cup winning partner on the other hand has disappointed in the tourney but did show signs of making a late bid for the top four after winning the night seven days ago.

The Iceman, then, has it all to play for which could make him dangerous given that the Clayton can effectively take it easy.

Of course he won’t – there are still points and money to play for – but this is a must win for Gezzy and, with the throw, he gets the nod this week.

Michael Smith v Michael van Gerwen

Next up, are another two that don’t really have a lot to play for.

Michael Smith remains the only darter in this year’s competition without a night win but, while it is still mathematically possible, isn’t really in with a chance of making it to the play offs.

On the other hand, Michael van Gerwen is already thinking of Rotterdam having booked his place in the top four last week.

With these two being two of the fastest dart throwers in the business, this is likely to be the most rapid game of the night but not one that I can see the Englishman winning.

Of the two Michaels, it is the Dutchman that’s preferred.

James Wade v Peter Wright

Having pulled out of last week’s event with a sickness, a recovered James Wade is due to play Peter Wright.

Both of these players are currently in the top four but neither are guaranteed a play off spot so both will be looking to bank points in London.

Gerwyn Price and Joe Cullen are breathing down the necks of this pair and they know it.

The Machine tops the double and check out success percentage and, providing he is over his sickness, he really should come out on top here against an out of sorts Snakebite.

Joe Cullen v Gary Anderson

The last match of the quarter final stage sees bottom of the table Gary Anderson take on Joe Cullen who still has hopes of a top four finish.

Anderson’s race is run, but don’t expect him to lay down for The Rockstar.

Anderson is bottom of the table but has improved over the last couple of weeks and could throw a spanner into Cullen’s aspirations.

This pair have the two lowest tournament averages out of everybody with The Flying Scotsman slightly ahead of The Rockstar, but Anderson has the experience and will want to go out with a bang and we expect him to.

Jonny Clayton Night 14 Darts

Pete’s DPL Betting Tips for Night 14

  • bet365 has boosted Gerwyn Price to out 180 Gary Anderson from 5/6 to 11/8 which is definitely worth looking at.
  • Expect there to be over 6.5 180s in the match between Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton which is worth 6/5 at bet365.
  • We can see Michael van Gerwen to near whitewash Peter Wright 6-1 which bet365 has priced up as a 17/2 chance.

All of these betting lines were correct as of May 17th at 5 PM UK Time.

Jonny Clayton won his fourth Darts Premier League night of the season last Thursday in Glasgow to go six points clear at the top of the table.

The Ferret beat second-placed Michael van Gerwen 6-3 in front of over 9,000 fans at the OVO Hydro Arena.

The win for Clayton, along with MVG’s earlier win over Joe Cullen, means that the Welshman’s place in the play offs is now secure with only three regular-season weeks left to run.

Mighty Mike had the defending champion on the ropes with the Ferret capitalizing on four uncharacteristically missed darts from Van Gerwen to break throw in the final and move 5-3 ahead.

He then sealed the win with a check out of 68 in the following leg.

This was Clayton’s sixth final in this year’s competition, and he began the night with a 6-2 victory over the previous week’s winner James Wade before meeting and beating local hero Gary Anderson in the second round.

Anderson himself finally banked some points after overcoming Peter Wright in the opening game of the night, while Van Gerwen opened up his night with a tight 6-5 win over Joe Cullen before progressing to a 6-5 victory over Michael Smith in the semi-final stage.

The Premier League of Darts roadshow now moves on to Sheffield this week for Night 14.

Joe Cullen v James Wade

Nigh 14 of the 2022 Premier League Darts gets underway with James Wade taking on Joe Cullen.

Having banked a pair of nightly wins, Wade is looking to cement his top four position after going out of the first round a week ago in Scotland.

The Machine has a ten-point gap over his rival this week and boasts the highest tournament doubles and check-out percentage with 44%.

The Rockstar, on the other hand, has the lowest percentage with 37%.

However, despite having the lowest tournament average, Cullen has recorded more 180s than his opponent this week.

Cullen has his own ideas of making the play offs and is trying to chase down five points from Peter Wright who, while currently in fourth place, needs to get motoring if he is to survive.

A win here for the Rockstar followed by a good run in his native Yorkshire would see his challenge for that fourth spot reignite ahead of the final week.

In what will likely be a close affair, I think Wade will likely just about edge it and head through to the next round.

Gary Anderson v Gerwyn Price

Game number two sees Gary Anderson take on former world number one Gerwyn Price.

While it is still mathematically possible, neither of these two look like being in Rotterdam for the finals.

It might have been five years ago, but it’s still impossible with these two not to remember their on-stage argument back at the Grand Slam of Darts.

That, after all, is the main source of the boos that still rain down on the Welshman to this day, proving that the fans haven’t forgotten.

In all, both of these have performed so badly that I’m expecting a low-quality affair.

Both players are former world champions and both players can switch on the class at any point, but neither looks like they are about to and the two of them looked disinterested.

Nevertheless, the pair of them need to play at least another three games before their misery is over.

Despite an impressive win over a lackluster Peter Wright a week ago in Glasgow, I’m leaning towards the Iceman as, out of the two of them, he has the best chance of reaching the last four, however unlikely that is, but could provide some inspiration at least.

Michael van Gerwen v Peter Wright

The glamour tie of the evening sees ‘Mighty’ Michael van Gerwen take on the world number one Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright.

Both men are currently sitting in the play off spots, but Wright, who still can’t settle on a set of darts,  has been out of sorts in the past month.

Wright still has only one night title in this year’s campaign and that came in week one, which is why we’re backing the Dutchman in this one.

The Green Machine has the highest tournament average of all and has won three nights and reached six finals and is, at times, looking back to his imperious best.

It’s definitely worth backing MVG in the penultimate quarter-final of night 14.

Michael Smith v Jonny Clayton

The runaway leader of this year’s Darts Premier League, Jonny Clayton meets the struggling Michael Smith in the final match of the first round.

The Ferret has four night titles to his name so far, including last week in Glasgow, and has banked points pretty much every week so far.

In contrast, Bully Boy is the only player left in the tourney to still not won at least one night and looks close to certain to miss out on Rotterdam.

It really is hard to make a case for Smith and I just can’t see anything other than a win for the Welshman, given he is in the form of his life and, at the time of writing, playing like the best arrow chucker in the world right now.

Darts Premier League Betting Tips And Predictions Night 13

Night 13 of the Darts Premier League, Betting Tines on bet365

Pete’s DPL Betting Tips for Night 13

  • Expect the match between Michael van Gerwen and Joe Cullen to produce the most 180s, which can be backed at 15/8 with bet365.
  • We predict that Peter Wright will score the first break of throw in his all Scottish affair against Gary Anderson at 10/11 with bet365.
  • bet365 are offering evens (1/1) on Gerwyn Price to pin a 180 in his opening leg against Michael Smith which is highly probable.

All of these betting lines were correct as of May 17th at 5 PM UK Time.

Last Thursday in Dublin, James Wade became the third player to pick up multiple Premier League of Darts victories after beating Jonny Clayton in the weekly final.

The Machine also saw off world number three Michael van Gerwen 6-5 and world number two Gerwyn Price 6-1 along the way to his second-night title.

Wade initially found himself 5-3 down and was forced to survive match darts against the Ferret before fighting back and beating the Welshman in a final leg decider with a superb 118 checkout.

The opening match between James Wade and Michael van Gerwen was pure darting quality and filled with 180s. Ultimately it was the Dutchman who came away without points for the first time this season.

The Machine then backed up his quarter-final performance with a stunning 6-1 victory over the Iceman in a match where he averaged an outstanding 114, his highest-ever televised numbers.

His opponent in the final, league leader Clayton, opened up his evening with a win over Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright before eliminating Michael Smith, who is in desperate need of points and saw off Gary Anderson 6-2 in his opener.

Just three weeks ago, Wade was still waiting for a nightly title and now has two but Smith’s wait for a victory continues and his chances of a play off place are beginning to look pretty slim.

This week, Premier League Darts heads to the OVO Arena in Glasgow, where Wright faces Anderson, Clayton is against Wade, Price takes on Smith and Van Gerwen faces off against Joe Cullen.

Peter Wright v Gary Anderson

First up on night 13 of the Premier League at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow is the battle of the two Scotsmen where Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright takes on Gary ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson.

The pair last came up against each other on night eight when it was the world number one Wright who came out on top.

He won that encounter 6-5 but banked zero points last week after a quarter-final exit at the hands of Jonny Clayton.

But, despite having the same amount of weekly wins as his rival, Anderson has barely been at the races in this year’s Premier League of Darts campaign and sits bottom of the table, propping up the rest.

As such, it is hard to see this one going against Snakebite.

Jonny Clayton v James Wade

The second match of the night sees a repeat of last week’s final in Dublin as the Ferret aims to get his own back on the Machine.

Last week’s match-up was a high-quality affair as the league’s two in-form players clashed.

Both players look set to qualify for the play offs as the door begins to close on those outside the top four.

I would back Clayton to get revenge this week, but there is a strangeness to the odds offered on James Wade during this year’s competition.

True, he took a while to get a win, but he has made four finals and banked two wins, which is more than both Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price.

Yet, still the bookies rank him as a fairly high-priced outsider.

It’s almost worth backing him regardless of whether you think he’s going to win or not.

That being said, purely because he throws first which is critical in this short format contest, we’re backing the Welshman who has been one of the best players in the world for the past 18 months.

Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith

The night’s third match sees two players who are fast running out of time to qualify for the next round come up against each other.

Former world number one and world champion, Gerwyn Price throws first against Bully Boy, who is still the only player who hasn’t yet won an individual night in this season’s Darts Premier League.

It may even be too late for Smith, but there remains a slim chance for the Iceman – who returned to his previous Ice Ice Baby walkout song last week in Ireland – and he really needs to grasp it with both hands.

And I think he will do just that.

No points for the Bully Boy this week.

Michael van Gerwen v Joe Cullen

The final match in the quarter-final first round sees Premier League debutant, Joe ‘The Rockstar’ Cullen face off against Mighty Michael van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen enjoyed a European Tour victory over the weekend when he took down the Austrian Darts Open trophy and, having failed to bank any points for the first time seven days ago, he will be looking to further cement his top-four place and close the gap on Jonny Clayton at the top of the table.

Expect the Green Machine to come out with all guns blazing and put on a show before meeting Gerwyn Price in the next round.
